Environmental Crossings, Inc. (ECI) was incorporated in 1992 to service the rapidly growing natural gas transmission industry in Northern Michigan. The company has grown consistently from a start-up to a nationwide horizontal directional drilling (HDD) contractor by emphasizing innovative, quality solutions. The company’s administrative headquarters are in Traverse City, Michigan. It maintains its operations headquarters near Houston, in Conroe, Texas.
The Company currently operates five directional drilling units in the United States. These rigs range in push-pull capacity from 1,200,000 lb. to 90,000 lb. ECI has operated internationally, but currently is focusing on serving its customers in the U.S.
ECI gained early valuable HDD experience in serving clients in the “river crossing” business burying utility pipelines under rivers and roadways. In the mid 1990’s, ECI turned its focus almost exclusively to the telecommunications construction industry participating in the national fiber optic infrastructure build. Following the decline in the telecom boom in the year 2000, ECI shifted its product mix back to traditional markets to concentrate its efforts on core, diversified product lines serving clients in the oil & gas pipeline, water, sewer, electric and telecommunication markets.
The company has established a high quality reputation by offering innovative horizontal directional drilling product solutions to a wide variety of clientele.
